![]() Preschool Curriculum
The Early Childhood Center (ECC) of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School has been designed to address the unique needs of the early learner. We provide a nurturing learning environment that supports children as they develop the skills necessary to become life long learners. We welcome children into either our three-year-old preschool class or our four-year-old preschool class. Our programs use developmentally appropriate practices that encourage a child's natural curiosity. The preschool day begins in a classroom of enriching activities as children are welcomed and encouraged to participate. Active learning is taking place, as children are "hands-on" with materials and interacting with teachers and their classmates. We welcome parent participation in our classrooms. Our curriculum is planned to stimulate language, motor, intellectual, social and emotional growth in every child. Daily routines of morning circle time, snack and classroom transitions are times for children to develop independence and self-help skills. Teacher directed activities encourage the children to explore, experiment and ask questions to further their thinking and problem solving skills. Weather permitting, children will spend time outdoors using playground equipment and engaging in large-motor games. Once a month the children gather together in our chapel to celebrate the joy of living in God's world. Each day we pray together in the classroom while learning stories and songs that celebrate God's love for us. Please call at any time to set up a personal tour. We look forward to meeting you!
