On behalf of myself and the Parent Teacher Guild (PTG), I would like to extend a warm and gracious welcome to our wonderful school and community. It was not that long ago that I was in the same position as you were, deciding where I should send my children to school. I can honestly say I have made the right and best choice for my children and family.

One of the things I enjoy the most is being an active part of our PTG committee and the school community. I have served over 7 years on the committee in various ways. I am currently serving as the President. Our motto is to “enhance, enrich and embrace the students, facility and community of Our Lady of Sorrows”.

The PTG sponsors many great enrichment programs such as the school Band, Art Smart, Destination Imagination, Earth Day, Science Olympiad, Yearbook Committee and many, many more. We also have been able to enhance our curriculum through purchasing promethean/interactive white boards, developing science labs for the elementary and junior high, sponsored the sensory program for pre-school through 1^st grade, and continuous enhancements to our computer room and technology. We are able to accomplish these sponsored events through our annual social fundraising event, It is a great social event with dinner, dancing and live and silent auction.

The PTG is a volunteer committee composed of parents and staff. We welcome and encourage each parent to attend our meetings that are scheduled every third Monday at 7:00 pm in the Family Center. Our by-laws only allow for a person to be a chairperson of their event for three consecutive years, thus creating openings each year for new parents to get involved and share new ideas. On the back of the page I have listed the various committees and the chairpersons’ name if you wish to inquire more about their role and experience. You can become as involved as you would like: volunteer to help with an event, chair an event, co-chair an activity, etc.
