With growth comes change... and new challenges.  As you look around Our Lady of Sorrows you can readily see that rapid growth is taking place in our parish family.  In response, a Task Force gathered to address some of the challenges that come with growth.  Initially, the Task Force focused on the school and its needs.  Very quickly, however, the Task Force realized that there are a wide-range of parish needs that should be met.  Knowing our parish's proud history of always meeting challenges with energy and enthusiasm, the Task Force has developed a plan of action.  Working together, we faced the challenge before us, and made this plan a reality to truly build tomorrow.

On Sunday, September 26, 1999, Cardinal Maida blessed and dedicated the new Family Center.

The Family Center meets the needs of our youngest to our most senior members and thereby frees up space in the school for expansion.   The Family Center provides:

• A chapel for small weddings, funerals, prayer groups.
• Four meeting rooms that can be opened into a larger gathering area for parish events and, meetings.
• An Early Childhood Center with four kindergarten and two pre-school classrooms.
• A new gymnasium for all parish sports activities, recreational opportunities, and space to accommodate larger parish gatherings.
• A warming kitchen, small concession area, men's and women's changing facilities.
• Approximately 70 new parking spaces to serve the Center as Church overflow parking.

Renovation/updating of the existing school and religious education facilities accomplished the following:

• Joined the two school buildings.
• Central location for the administration of the school, Christian Formation, and Youth Ministry.
• A new lunchroom/multipurpose area.
• Additional classroom space to meet the projected target of four classrooms at each grade level.

 The sculpture of Christ welcoming the children was placed at the entrance of the school in November, 2000.
