3-4 Year Old Curriculum

RELIGION

Our religion program, Discovering God’s World, allows our young children to explore God’s gift of ourselves, creation, family and our Church community.  We visit the Chapel on once a month to hear the work of the Lord.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Our preschool students create and act our familiar stories, songs, rhymes and play activities.  The children will develop language skills, expand vocabulary, grow in independence and learn to follow verbal directions.  Preschoolers develop oral language through finger plays, nursery rhymes and songs.  We balance our program using both spoken and written language.

HANDWRITING WITHOUT TEARS

Handwriting is taught using a multi-sensory approach.  Children learn pencil skills and work skills through letter formation using both play dough and wooden pieces to form letters.  It teaches language proficiency along with color and shape awareness.  This program facilitates find and gross motor control and development.  The children learn social skills with his program and it strengthens their counting abilities.

LARGE MOTOR

Physical activity will be a part of our daily routine.  This may include music and movement, outdoor play and/or gym time.

FINE MOTOR

A variety of manipulatives will be offered each day to encourage listening skills, directional skills and coordination.

MATH

Math skills grow as children pour, measure, count, estimate, weigh and pattern.  Classification, use of space and matching games all encourage math skills.

SCIENCE

Children learn science through experiences such as measuring, comparing, predicting, observing, creating, graphing, exploring and problem solving.
